Samba, Jun 25 , 2025 : A 47-year-old Village Defence Guard (VDG) allegedly died by suicide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Wednesday, officials said.
The deceased, Omkar Nath, reportedly used his own muzzle-loading gun to take his life at his residence in Nichla village, Ghagwal. His family members rushed to his room after hearing a gunshot and found him unresponsive.
The motive behind the tragic incident remains unknown. Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
