SRINAGAR, July 24, 2025 – In a strong gesture underscoring her commitment to public health and service accountability, Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, conducted a surprise midnight inspection at JVC Hospital, Bemina.
The Minister personally visited various wards well past midnight to assess the quality of healthcare services being delivered during night hours. She reviewed the availability of doctors, nursing staff, emergency services, and the overall functioning of the hospital’s infrastructure, including maternity care, sanitation, and patient wards.
During her inspection, she interacted directly with patients and their attendants to understand their concerns and gather feedback. She also examined the roster registers and directed strict adherence to duty schedules, emphasizing that medical personnel must be available as per the assigned shifts.
“Healthcare is not a 9-to-5 service. Hospitals must be functional and responsive 24/7,” the Minister stated while interacting with the medical staff. She stressed the need for greater accountability, consistent service quality, and a patient-centric approach—particularly during night hours when patients are most vulnerable.
The public appreciated the Minister’s late-night visit, describing it as a commendable effort towards ensuring transparency and improving healthcare delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.
