Doda, July 25, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari in Doda district for accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 in a case related to land mutation.
According to officials, a complaint was received by the ACB alleging that the complainant had applied for the registration of Virasati Intiqal (inheritance mutation) of ancestral land after his father’s death. The concerned Patwari, identified as Ashok Kumar, had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 to process the application. After negotiation, the amount was settled at ₹40,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which conducted discreet verification. The inquiry confirmed the demand of bribe, leading to the registration of FIR No. 04/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) at Police Station ACB Doda.
A trap team led by a Gazetted Officer was constituted, and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of ₹40,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.
The accused was immediately arrested, and the bribe money was recovered on the spot as per legal procedures.
