JAIPUR, July 26, 2025 : A final-year BDS student from Jammu and Kashmir, Sweta Singh, was found dead by suicide in her hostel room at a private medical college in Udaipur on Thursday night, officials said.
Her roommate discovered her hanging and alerted authorities. A suicide note recovered from the scene reportedly accused college faculty of mental harassment and delays in conducting examinations.
Following the incident, students staged a protest and blocked a nearby road, demanding action against the faculty members named in the note.
The college director met with protesting students and assured strict disciplinary measures.
“The matter is under investigation, and action will be taken based on police findings,” he said.
SHO Ravindra Charan of Sukher Police Station confirmed that the body has been moved to the mortuary, and a postmortem will be conducted once the student’s family arrives.
