JAMMU, July 26, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir PDL/TDL PDD Union has temporarily suspended its ongoing agitation for 30 days after a tripartite meeting with officials from the Power Development Department (PDD) and the JKPEECC coordination committee.
The protest, which began on June 26, was launched to demand the regularisation of 557 PDL/TDL workers and compensation for deceased and disabled staff members. Among these, 332 cases were recommended by the Departmental Level Committee (DLC) in accordance with the JPDCL Regularisation Rules of 2022 and approved by the Board of Directors (BoD) on April 11, 2025. However, the file remained pending with the General Administration Department (GAD), leading to unrest.
During the meeting, JKPEECC urged the workers to suspend their protest temporarily, assuring them of unified support if the issue remains unresolved after 30 days. Officials indicated that the file is progressing positively, and similar cases requiring policy relaxation for 55 workers have already received approval.
The BoD is expected to meet within the next month to amend the existing regularisation rules based on the latest GAD communication, paving the way for formal regularisation orders. Additionally, a nodal officer will be appointed to address pending ex-gratia and insurance claims, and no wages will be withheld for the protesting employees.
In light of these assurances, the union has called off its protest and resumed duties with immediate effect.
