Jammu, July 27, 2025 : The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed its first chargesheet in a high-profile narco-terrorism case involving the seizure of 46 kg of heroin from Jammu and Punjab in August 2024, exposing links to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), officials said on Sunday.
The case began with the arrest of Sartaj Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, Punjab, who was caught with 33.580 kg of heroin near the Jammu Bus Stand on August 9, 2024, following actionable intelligence.
A subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of Amritpal Singh alias Fouji, who had fled the scene with another consignment. His arrest by Punjab Police resulted in the recovery of an additional 12.626 kg of heroin.
Given the case’s international and terror-related implications, it was handed over to the SIA Jammu. The agency registered the case under the NDPS Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to an SIA official, the investigation uncovered key evidence linking Amritpal Singh to a LeT handler based in Pakistan, thereby confirming the narco-terror angle.
“This breakthrough was achieved using advanced technical tools, scientific analysis, and human intelligence,” the official said.
The chargesheet details serious offences committed by the accused and others involved, highlighting the growing threat of drug trafficking being used to fund terrorism.
“This case is a significant success in the ongoing fight against narco-terrorism. It exposes how transnational syndicates are exploiting drug routes to finance terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir and beyond,” the official added.
