Kulgam, August 2, 2025 : Two terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in the Akhal area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The gunfight began Friday evening after security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. An initial exchange of fire took place, after which the operation was paused overnight.
The cordon was reinforced, and fresh troops were deployed. Firing resumed Saturday morning, resulting in the killing of two terrorists.
The identities and affiliations of the slain militants are yet to be confirmed. The operation is still in progress.
