Kulgam, August 4, 2025 : The ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district entered its fourth consecutive day on Monday, with security forces intensifying efforts to flush out the remaining militants hiding in the dense forest area of Akhal.
An official confirmed that intermittent exchange of fire continued on Monday morning. “Security forces are using all available resources, including drones and helicopters, to locate and neutralize the terrorists,” he said.
The encounter began on Friday evening following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. After an initial exchange of fire, the operation was briefly paused overnight.
Fresh reinforcements were deployed and the cordon was further tightened. On Saturday, two terrorists were gunned down during a renewed exchange of fire. At least two security personnel sustained injuries in the course of the operation.
Security forces continue to maintain a tight perimeter around the forested zone, with aerial surveillance and ground teams working in coordination to prevent any escape.
The identity and affiliation of the slain terrorists are yet to be officially confirmed. The operation is ongoing.
