Jammu, August 4, 2025: The Jammu district administration has imposed a blanket ban on the sale, purchase, storage, distribution, and display for sale of all motor vehicle accessories intended for unauthorized modifications.
The order was issued by District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya under Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The ban comes into immediate effect and applies across the entire Jammu district.
“This step has been taken in light of recent enforcement drives by Traffic Police, during which a number of illegally modified vehicles were seized,” Vaishya stated in the order.
Authorities said many commercial establishments and vendors in Jammu are actively dealing in vehicle accessories that contribute to unauthorized and potentially hazardous modifications.
Banned accessories include, but are not limited to:
-
Oversized tyres
-
Pressure and musical horns
-
Metallic bumpers
-
High-intensity halogen lamps
-
Tinted or reflective window films
-
Roof rail spoilers
-
Modified exhaust systems
“These fittings alter the manufacturer’s original specifications and compromise safety and regulatory compliance,” the order noted.
The administration has warned of strict action against violators under the applicable provisions of the law.
