Kulgam, August 5, 2025 : The anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with security forces tightening the cordon around militants holed up in the Akhal forest area.
Intermittent gunfire continues as forces deploy drones, helicopters, and additional reinforcements to flush out the hiding terrorists. Some residents requiring medical assistance were evacuated from nearby areas on Tuesday.
The encounter began on Friday evening after a cordon and search operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs. After an initial exchange of fire, the operation paused overnight and resumed Saturday morning, leading to the killing of two terrorists. Two security personnel have sustained injuries.
The identities and group affiliation of the slain terrorists are yet to be confirmed. Officials said the operation remains active, with efforts underway to neutralize the remaining militants.
