Srinagar, Aug 12, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated 79 cyclists who participated in the Border Security Force’s ‘Pedal for Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ rally, organised as part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations.
The rally—featuring 40 local youth and 39 BSF personnel—covered 79 km from BSF Campus Bandipora to Frontier HQ Kashmir, Humhama, passing through Manasbal, Sumbal, Shalateng, Hyderpora, and Bakshi Stadium. It celebrated India’s diversity, unity, and national spirit.
Congratulating the BSF for its tribute to the nation’s bravehearts, the LG said the event would inspire youth to join the BSF, Army, and Police. He called the cyclists “living symbols of India’s courage,” noting that the 79 km route symbolised 79 years of India’s independence.
“From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is one. Every citizen must put the nation first and work for Viksit Jammu Kashmir and Viksit Bharat,” Sinha said, urging people to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and stay vigilant against divisive forces.
The LG also paid tribute to civilians martyred in the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam, vowing that such acts would be met with a “very heavy price.”
The event was attended by senior BSF, civil, and police officials, including IG BSF Kashmir Frontier Ashok Yadav, IG STC BSF Kashmir Solomon Yash Kumar Minz, DC Budgam Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar, and a large gathering of youth and citizens.
