NEW DELHI, May 22, 2026 : The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the inter-cadre deputation of senior IPS officer Mukesh Singh from the AGMUT cadre to the Manipur cadre for a period of three years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs for Mukesh Singh’s deputation has been cleared in relaxation of the existing inter-cadre deputation conditions.
The ACC has also waived the mandatory “cooling off” period following central deputation as a special case in public interest.
Mukesh Singh, a 1996-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, is currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh.
Over the course of his career, he has held several key policing and security assignments, including:

▪️ ADG Jammu
▪️ Inspector General (IG), ITBP
▪️ IG Jammu
▪️ IG Crime, J&K
▪️ IG, National Investigation Agency (NIA)
▪️ Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in multiple districts of Jammu & Kashmir
Mukesh Singh is widely regarded as an experienced officer with extensive expertise in policing, counter-insurgency and security management across Jammu & Kashmir and other sensitive regions.
The deputation to Manipur comes at a crucial time as the northeastern state continues to witness focus on strengthening administrative and security mechanisms.
