Dubai [UAE], Jul 14, 2025 : South Africa’s Aiden Markram has been crowned the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2025, following his match-winning performance in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s, where he also earned Player of the Match honours.
The 30-year-old delivered an all-round display to end South Africa’s 27-year wait for a senior ICC trophy, scoring a match-defining 136 in the second innings and claiming two key wickets—including the prized scalp of Steve Smith with his sixth ball.
“It’s a privilege to receive this award,” Markram said. “Winning the final at Lord’s is a historic moment for South African cricket. I’m proud to have contributed, but it was a true team effort—with vital performances from KG (Kagiso Rabada) and Tembs (Temba Bavuma).”
After falling for a duck in the first innings, Markram turned the tide in the second. Chasing 282 under pressure, he anchored the innings with resilience, forging crucial partnerships with Wiaan Mulder and Bavuma. His composed 136 guided South Africa to a landmark victory in one of their greatest Test performances.
The win secured South Africa’s maiden World Test Championship title and marked a defining chapter in Markram’s career—cementing his place among modern-day Test greats.
