PULWAMA, May 2, 2026 : In a continued crackdown on terror networks, security forces on Saturday apprehended an Overground Worker (OGW) associated with terrorist elements in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The arrested individual has been identified as Umar Malik, a resident of Kachipora in South Kashmir. Officials stated that the arrest was made during a targeted operation based on specific inputs regarding militant support activities in the area.
During the operation, security forces recovered a cache of incriminating material from Malik’s possession, including:
- One star pistol
- Two rounds of live ammunition
- One magazine
- One Chinese grenade
- One Pakistani grenade
- One mobile phone
Authorities revealed that OGWs play a crucial role in sustaining terrorist networks by providing logistics, shelter, and communication support. The arrest is being seen as a significant step toward dismantling the support structure of militancy in the region.
Officials further stated that investigations are underway to trace Malik’s links with active terrorist outfits and to uncover any larger network he may have been assisting.
The operation highlights the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of security agencies to neutralize threats and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
