Leh, July 28, 2025 : Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday visited a forward post in Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, where he interacted with troops of the 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (18 JAK RIF)—the very battalion he was once commissioned into and had the honour to command.
In what officials described as a deeply emotional and nostalgic visit, General Dwivedi reunited with seven Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) who had served under his command during his early years in the battalion.
“Amidst the icy expanse of Siachen, the COAS relived cherished memories, shared heartfelt conversations, and celebrated the enduring bond of camaraderie and brotherhood with the soldiers,” a spokesperson said.
The visit underscored the Army Chief’s deep connection to his roots and served as a morale booster for troops operating in one of the most challenging military environments in the world.
