Srinagar, March 4, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday interacted with religious leaders and members of civil society in Srinagar to discuss the evolving situation in West Asia following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a US-Israel airstrike.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), participants expressed concern over the developments and conveyed condolences over the loss of lives in Iran.
Call for Peaceful Expression
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed the need to maintain peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. While acknowledging the public’s grief, he urged that expressions of mourning remain peaceful and responsible.
Special Prayers Held
The gathering also included a Fatiha (special prayer) for Ayatollah Khamenei and others who lost their lives in the recent military strikes. Participants prayed for peace and expressed hope for stability in the region.
The interaction comes amid heightened sensitivities and public reactions in parts of the Union Territory over international developments.
