Pulwama, March 19, 2026: The Directorate of Rural Development Kashmir has placed a Block Development Officer (BDO) under suspension in Pulwama district pending an inquiry into alleged misconduct.

As per an official order, Mst. Layla Khalid, a Panchayat Inspector currently holding the charge of BDO Newa, has been suspended with immediate effect.

During the suspension period, she has been attached to the office of Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Ganderbal.

The order further states that the Assistant Commissioner Development Pulwama has been assigned additional charge of BDO Newa along with his existing responsibilities until further orders.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner Development Pulwama has been directed to conduct a detailed and in-depth inquiry into the allegations and submit a comprehensive report along with recommendations within 15 days to the Directorate.

Officials said the action has been taken as part of efforts to ensure accountability and transparency in rural development administration.
