Jammu, August 23, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir BJP has welcomed the government’s decision to take over more than 200 schools earlier run by the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its affiliate Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), calling it a decisive step to secure the future of students in the Valley.
BJP vice president and former education minister Priya Sethi said JeI and FAT had “misused the sacred platform of education to spread radicalisation instead of knowledge.”
“By seizing control of these schools, the government has broken this vicious cycle and safeguarded the academic future of thousands of innocent students,” she said in a statement.
Sethi noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs had declared JeI unlawful due to its anti-national activities, and the recent takeover of 215 affiliated schools is a strong step against the “dangerous misuse of education.”
She added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the administration is ensuring education in Jammu and Kashmir remains free from radical influence.
“JeI-run institutions were never about empowerment or learning. They were hubs of indoctrination, alienating young minds from mainstream progress. This betrayal of trust cannot be forgiven,” she said.
The BJP leader praised the move as a safeguard against extremism, assuring parents that government control will bring transparency, accountability, and quality education.
“Our children will now study in an environment of positivity and patriotism, free from the shadow of separatist propaganda,” she said, reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to supporting initiatives that secure youth and build a peaceful, developed Jammu and Kashmir.
