Bandipora, August 21:- Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tafazul Wani has expressed serious concerns regarding the continued tenure of Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad, and has called for his immediate transfer. Wani questioned why Shabir Ahmad remains in his position despite the reassignment of other officials within the district.
Wani alleged that Ahmad’s extended stay in Bandipora is due to his local connections, particularly his alleged close ties with workers of National Conference leader Akbar Lone. He highlighted that Safapora, located at the border of Bandipora district, is a politically sensitive area. Wani urged the Election Commission of India to intervene promptly to ensure Ahmad’s transfer without further delay.
The BJP leader’s concerns arise amidst growing apprehensions about the impartiality of officials during the forthcoming assembly elections. Wani emphasized the need for a fair and transparent electoral process in Bandipora, free from local biases and influences. He stressed that the transfer of officials like Shabir Ahmad is essential to uphold the integrity of the election process in the region.
Wani called on the Election Commission to act swiftly, stating that the credibility of the electoral process in Bandipora is at stake, and urged immediate action to facilitate the transfer of Shabir Ahmad as soon as possible.
