📅 03 July 2026, Jammu : As the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 gains momentum with thousands of pilgrims arriving in Jammu every day, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has inaugurated the much-awaited boating facility at the Tawi River Front, adding a new recreational attraction for pilgrims, tourists, and local residents.
The boating service was formally inaugurated by Dr. Devansh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited and Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), in the presence of senior JSCL officials, district administration officers, representatives of various departments, and members of the public.
The launch marks another significant milestone in the transformation of the Tawi River Front under the Smart Cities Mission, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the scenic beauty of the Tawi River while enjoying modern recreational facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Devansh Yadav said Jammu serves as the gateway to the holy Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine, welcoming lakhs of pilgrims every year. He stated that the introduction of the boating facility is intended to enrich the overall visitor experience by providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable recreational activity during their stay in the city.
He further noted that the initiative reflects the vision of Jammu Smart City to create world-class public spaces that combine tourism, recreation, environmental sustainability, and modern urban infrastructure. According to him, the Tawi River Front has rapidly emerged as one of Jammu’s most popular destinations, and the boating facility is expected to further enhance its appeal.
Following the inauguration, the first batch of pilgrims, tourists, and local residents enjoyed boating amid the picturesque surroundings of the Tawi River. Visitors welcomed the initiative and described it as a refreshing addition to Jammu’s growing tourism landscape.
The boating facility will remain operational daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, starting 03 July 2026. Each boating session will last 15 minutes, with tickets priced at ₹100 per person. Visitors can choose from a variety of options, including Paddle Boats, Rafts, Motor Boats, and traditional Shikaras.
To make the service more convenient, Jammu Smart City Limited has also introduced an online booking system, enabling pilgrims, tourists, and local residents to reserve their boating slots in advance through the official portal.
Authorities have implemented comprehensive safety measures for boating operations. Every passenger will be provided with a life jacket, while trained boat operators and rescue personnel will remain on duty. Standard operating procedures, emergency response systems, and continuous monitoring have also been put in place to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all visitors.
Developed under the Smart Cities Mission, the Tawi River Front has witnessed significant transformation in recent years with landscaped promenades, cycling and walking tracks, musical fountains, open-air recreational spaces, modern lighting, seating areas, and improved public amenities. The addition of the boating facility is expected to further establish the riverfront as one of Jammu’s leading tourism and leisure destinations.
