JAMMU, July 24, 2025 : The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday intensified search operations along the International Border (IB) in the R.S. Pura sector of Jammu district following a suspected infiltration attempt late Wednesday night.
According to BSF officials, the operation began overnight and continued into Thursday morning, covering forward villages, agricultural fields, and dense vegetation near the border fence.
“Infiltration alerts were issued across the R.S. Pura and Arnia sectors, prompting heightened night patrolling and surveillance,” a senior BSF official stated. Additional personnel, dog squads, and thermal imaging equipment have been deployed to detect any cross-border movement.
Drone surveillance was also launched to assist ground forces in scanning difficult terrain. The stepped-up security measures come amid intelligence inputs suggesting possible infiltration attempts by terrorists ahead of upcoming national events and festivals.
Residents of border villages have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security post.
So far, no contact or exchange of fire has been reported, but the area remains on high alert. “All border outposts are on maximum alert. Coordination with other intelligence and security agencies has been intensified to establish a strong, multi-layered defence,” the official added.
The development follows the deadly April 22 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow, which claimed 26 civilian lives. In its aftermath, security forces across Jammu and Kashmir have been actively targeting terrorist networks, overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers to dismantle the broader terror ecosystem in the region.
