JAMMU, July 24, 2025: Amid relentless rainfall and rising river levels, the Border Security Force (BSF) Water Wing has stepped up patrolling along unfenced stretches of the international border in Jammu, where swollen rivers flow toward Pakistan.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast “generally cloudy skies with moderate rain” for the region today, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 28°C.
Wednesday’s downpour caused a sharp rise in water levels, especially in the Poonch river, prompting the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to deploy personnel in vulnerable areas.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Zakir of SDRF Poonch said, “We have been deployed by the district administration and the state government due to the heavy rainfall. People have been advised to stay away from water bodies. Our team is taking all necessary precautions to prevent any mishaps. The water level has risen significantly.”
Security forces and emergency response teams remain on high alert as efforts continue to monitor flood-prone zones and ensure public safety.
