NEW DELHI, September 30, 2026 : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially directed IAS officer Mohammad Aijaz to be “stand relieved” from the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, with the order taking effect from October 5, 2026.
Aijaz, a 2012-batch AGMUT cadre officer, is currently serving as Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) in Jammu & Kashmir. He had earlier been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh as part of his new posting.
However, according to the MHA order, the officer had not been relieved from his existing responsibilities within the stipulated 15-day period following the transfer order. The Ministry subsequently intervened and issued directions regarding his relief from the J&K administration.
Under the latest order, Mohammad Aijaz has been directed to join his new posting in Arunachal Pradesh immediately, with the “stand relieved” provision becoming effective on October 5.
The Centre has also made it clear that failure to comply with the directions could result in strict disciplinary action. The order reportedly provides for measures including stoppage of salary and debarment from promotions and central deputation in the event of continued non-compliance.
The development comes amid administrative changes involving AGMUT-cadre officers serving in different Union Territories and states under the cadre’s jurisdiction.
The Centre’s latest direction effectively clears the way for Aijaz to move from his present assignment in Jammu & Kashmir and take up his designated posting in Arunachal Pradesh.
