Srinagar, March 7, 2026 : Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security scenario in Pulwama district, emphasising the need for intelligence-driven operations and proactive policing to maintain peace and stability across Jammu and Kashmir.
The review meeting focused on the overall security environment, counter-terror (CT) operations, and the law-and-order situation in the Awantipora police district in south Kashmir.
During the meeting, the police chief conducted a detailed assessment of the prevailing security conditions with particular emphasis on ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, including both kinetic and non-kinetic operations aimed at preventing militant activities and ensuring public safety.
Prabhat also reviewed the measures being taken by Jammu and Kashmir Police to combat drug abuse, narcotics trafficking and other criminal activities across the Awantipora police district.
The DGP stressed the need to further intensify the crackdown on anti-national elements, drug networks and organised crime, directing officers to take firm and effective action against individuals involved in unlawful activities.
He also highlighted the importance of strong coordination between different security agencies, enhanced intelligence gathering and proactive policing strategies to maintain long-term peace in the region.
Appreciating the efforts of police officers and jawans working on the ground, the DGP urged all ranks to remain alert, disciplined and mission-oriented while performing their duties.
