GOVT.SPMR COLLEGE OF COMMERCE CELEBRATES CONSTITUTION DAY
Cultural and literary Committee with NSS Units of Govt. SPMR College of commerce, Jammu organized Pledge taking ceremony and signature campaign to celebrate the National Constitution Day on the theme of the year “ India: The Mother of Democracy”. The event was very well attended with the presence of a large number of students and staff members. Pledge was taken both in English and Hindi Languages after NSS Volunteers Deepasha and Rupal Slathia. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the College briefed the students about the Constitution of India which formally came into effect on 26Jan 1950. He highlighted the salient features of the constitution, particularly the aspects of pluralism and secularism, fundamental rights etc. Prof. Barbara kaul spoke about the farsightedness shown by the drafting members of the constitution in providing an enduring framework of the rule of law to fulfil the aspiration of masses. Other staff members present on the occasion were Prof. Archana Kaul, Dr. Monika Malhotra, Dr. Sandhya Bhardwaj, Prof Savita Jamwal, Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Prof. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Deepak Pathania, Dr. Sarabjeet Kour. The whole event was organized by Prof. Deepshikha Sharma (Convener Cultural and Literary Committee), Prof Rajni Bala and Prof. Apfan Ali (NSS Programme Officers).
