Srinagar, November 2, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday hailed the Kashmir Marathon as a transformative event for Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism economy, calling it a “major economic catalyst” that showcases the region’s spirit, culture, and potential on a global stage.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony for the winners of the second edition of the international marathon, Sinha said the event has, within two years, evolved into one of India’s most prestigious running tournaments.
Organised by the J&K Tourism Department, the marathon drew 1,100 runners from 27 states and Union Territories and 11 countries, featuring 42 km (full) and 21 km (half) races.
“The spirit of the runners reflects the power of unity, brotherhood, and shared experience,” the LG said, adding that the event has ignited “a sense of pride and passion” among people while inspiring a new generation of runners.
Sinha urged residents to seize the marathon’s opportunities to showcase J&K’s cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and tourism growth to the world. “Let us use this global platform to project our change, achievements, and the vibrant energy of the new Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The LG highlighted that sectors like handicrafts, handloom, and tourism stand to benefit immensely from the international exposure the marathon brings.
