Srinagar, September 5, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed the Teachers’ Day celebrations in Srinagar, paying rich tributes to former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and felicitating award-winning teachers from across Jammu and Kashmir.
In his keynote, the LG underlined the need for education that promotes sustainable development and deeper awareness of the interconnectedness of life. “Balancing economic growth with environmental protection is essential for prosperity and social equity,” he said, stressing on climate education, preservation of ecosystems, and field engagement through the Green Jammu Kashmir Drive.
Highlighting the role of teachers, he said they cannot be compared with AI tools. “The special quality of a teacher is the human touch — the ability to inspire, shape character, and prepare students to face life’s challenges,” he added.
Sinha urged educational institutions to reimagine learning in the age of technology, focus on innovation, and introduce awards for new ideas and research. He also called for teaching climate change as a compulsory subject and reviving traditions of living in harmony with nature.
Paying homage to those who lost their lives in recent natural calamities, the LG assured that the Centre is committed to rehabilitation and rebuilding normal life in J&K.
The event was attended by senior officials, heads of institutions, teachers, and students. Special recognition was given to specially-abled teachers, while Language and Yoga were also included in the award categories this year.
