JAMMU, May 2, 2026 : In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening the leadership structure of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the government has approved the promotion of two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).
As per Government Order No. 265-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department on May 2, 2026, sanction has been granted for the elevation of the following officers from DySP (General Cadre) to SP (Level-11) in the Pay Matrix (₹67,700–₹2,08,700), with immediate effect:
- Mudasser Ahmed Tramboo (KPS1258)
- Vaseem Mehmood (KPS125754)
The order has been issued with the approval of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reflecting the administration’s continued focus on recognizing merit and enhancing operational efficiency within the police force.
According to the official document, these promotions will remain subject to the final outcome of any pending writ petitions, if applicable. Despite this procedural clause, the decision marks a key step in bolstering senior-level policing and administrative capabilities across the Union Territory.
The move is expected to further streamline law enforcement functions and strengthen command-level responsibilities within the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
