025Srinagar, Jul 8, 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level review meeting today to assess the progress of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in Jammu and Kashmir.

The LG emphasized coordinated efforts to eliminate tuberculosis from the UT and called for “TB Mukt Jammu Kashmir” to become a collective mission. He stressed the need for robust case detection, timely treatment, inter-departmental coordination, and effective use of media to spread awareness.

Directing the Health Department to intensify patient monitoring and ensure adherence to treatment, the LG recommended the use of daily SMS alerts and calls to prevent drug resistance. He also urged full-scale deployment of diagnostic tools like CBNAAT and TrueNat across all districts.

The LG instructed Deputy Commissioners to expand IEC campaigns and involve religious leaders, healthcare workers, sportspersons, and civil society groups in destigmatizing TB. Priority was given to screening vulnerable populations and promoting Ni-Kshay Mitra registrations.

The meeting also reviewed key performance indicators under the National TB Elimination Programme, the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, Ayushman Bharat saturation, and availability of testing and treatment facilities.

Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Health & Medical Education, presented district-wise updates on treatment outcomes, presumptive testing, and strategic initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary to LG Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, MD NHM J&K Baseer-ul-Haq, Deputy Commissioners, and senior health officials.
