Ganderbal, August 20, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that investment in human capital, innovation, and research must be the top priority of educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
He was speaking after inaugurating an administrative block and an amphitheatre at the Tulmulla Campus of Central University of Kashmir in Ganderbal district.
The Lt Governor emphasized that India is poised for significant growth in the next two decades, with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. “Our growth model should focus on creating human capital that can contribute significantly to economic growth,” he said.
Sinha stressed on the need for curriculum reforms, urging institutions to move away from the ‘Sab chalta hai attitude’ and instead foster critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and innovation.
Highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary courses, he said they not only nurture skills and innovation but also build awareness of social and moral responsibilities among students.
Calling universities the axis of development with students as their periphery, Sinha said human development requires better universities, motivated teachers, and a dynamic learning environment. He added that with rapid technological shifts, the country needs human resources with lifelong learning abilities, adaptability, and re-skilling capacity.
