KISHTWAR, May 2, 2026 : In a significant counter-terrorism success, security forces busted a terrorist hideout in the remote forested belt of Chatroo area in Kishtwar district, recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive material.
The operation was carried out during a search mission in the dense forests of Bajmandoo in Sigdi Bhata area, where forces uncovered the concealed hideout. According to officials, the hideout was linked to a terrorist commander who had been neutralized by security forces in the past.
During the operation, security personnel recovered a range of Arms and equipment, highlighting the scale of militant preparedness in the region. The seized items include:
- One carbine gun with a magazine
- One pistol with a magazine
- One sling
- One Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with a 51 mm rocket
- Four detonators
- 97 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition
- 18 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition
- One kilogram of explosive material
- One pull-through cleaning device
- One Kenwood radio set
- Two Motorola radio sets
Officials stated that the recovery has dealt a blow to potential terror activities in the area, as such hideouts are often used for storing weapons and planning attacks.
The successful operation underscores the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of security forces to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Search operations in the region are expected to continue to ensure complete sanitization of the area.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to neutralizing all terror threats and preventing any attempt to disrupt normalcy in the Union Territory.
