NEW DELHI, November 23, 2025 : In a strong and unequivocal message to Pakistan, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Kaliyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Western Command, on Sunday said that India’s response to any future provocation would be “much stronger” than the damage inflicted during Operation Sindoor.
Speaking at a press conference, Lt Gen Kaliyar said the large-scale combat readiness exercise ‘Ram Prahar’ has been meticulously designed to enhance the Army’s operational readiness and ensure a decisive counter-strike capability in the event of hostile action.
‘Enemy Knows Our Capability’
“We caused significant damage to the adversary in Operation Sindoor. The enemy may attempt something again, and if they dare, the response will be far more powerful than before. This exercise prepares us for that response,” he declared.
The Western Command chief emphasised that the drill focuses on strengthening India’s rapid reaction abilities, integrated battle formations, and joint operational preparedness.
Symbolic Ritual Ahead of the Exercise
Earlier, Lt Gen Kaliyar performed a symbolic ritual on the banks of the Ganga River, seeking divine blessings for the upcoming tasks.
“Before beginning any major effort, blessings of Mother Ganga are sought. We believe her blessings are with us as we prepare for the tasks ahead,” he said.
Push for Defence Indigenisation
Meanwhile, the Army announced significant progress under the ongoing ‘Year of Technology Absorption’, highlighting advances in indigenisation and reduced reliance on imported military systems.
Officials said these initiatives reflect India’s long-term vision for self-reliance in defence, enhanced technological capabilities, and a stronger national security architecture.
