Jammu, July 1, 2025: Bharti Airtel has safeguarded over 2.3 million users in Jammu and Kashmir within 47 days of launching its AI-powered fraud detection system, the company announced on Monday. The initiative is part of Airtel’s nationwide rollout to combat rising online fraud.
The system, enabled by default for all Airtel mobile and broadband users, scans links across SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, social media platforms, and web browsers. Using real-time threat intelligence, it analyzes over one billion URLs daily and blocks harmful sites in under 100 milliseconds.
Since its rollout, Airtel has blocked over 2 lakh malicious links and protected 117 million users nationwide, including 23 lakh in J&K.
Airtel’s J&K COO, Dibyendu Aich, emphasized the company’s commitment to digital safety:
“Our AI-powered solution, offered free of charge, provides real-time protection and helps users navigate the digital world with confidence.”
In a bid to strengthen cybersecurity in the region, Aich also met IG Crime Branch J&K, Sunil Gupta, to discuss collaborative efforts against cybercrime.
As digital adoption surges in J&K, the threat of online fraud—via phishing, fake delivery messages, and spoofed banking alerts—is growing across cities like Jammu, Srinagar, and towns such as Baramulla and Samba.
The AI system works silently in the background, requires no installation, and sends fraud alerts in languages like Hindi and Urdu, making it especially useful in low-literacy districts. Airtel calls it a “statewide digital shield” that protects families, senior citizens, students, and new smartphone users alike.
