Islamabad, October 23, 2026 : Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday vowed to continue military operations against terrorist outfits, declaring that the armed forces would intensify their counterterrorism campaign and strike militant groups wherever they operate.
Munir made the remarks during a visit to the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, where he received a briefing on the security situation, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of military formations deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army, Munir praised the morale and professionalism of officers and troops and directed them to maintain heightened vigilance and the highest standards of operational readiness to counter security threats.
Army Chief Issues Strong Warning to Terrorist Groups
The army chief reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to sustain its counterterrorism campaign, saying the military would continue operations against what he described as “Indian sponsored terrorist outfits” and hit them hard wherever they were located.
India has previously rejected Pakistan’s allegations that it supports terrorist groups operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Peshawar Faces Persistent Security Challenges
The visit comes amid continuing security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Peshawar, the provincial capital, has witnessed repeated militant attacks in recent months.
The security situation has intensified pressure on authorities to strengthen counterterrorism operations, improve border management and ensure the preparedness of security forces deployed across the region.
According to the report, Pakistan’s government imposed emergency measures and governor’s rule in the restive province in October, blaming the provincial government for its failure to tackle the worsening security situation.
Counterterrorism Remains a Major Security Priority
Munir’s remarks signal the Pakistani military leadership’s stated intention to maintain pressure on militant groups amid persistent violence in the region. The effectiveness of the campaign will depend on security operations, intelligence coordination and efforts to prevent further attacks on civilians and security personnel.
