Srinagar, July 1, 2025: The Committee on Public Undertakings of the J&K Legislative Assembly held a meeting today at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar to review audit observations related to the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) and the J&K Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA).
The meeting was chaired by Ali Mohammad Sagar and attended by members Saifullah Mir, Ali Mohammad Dar, Baldev Raj Sharma, Shakti Raj Parihar, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Showkat Hussain Ganai, and Tanvir Sadiq.
Senior officials from the Accountant General’s Office, Power Development Department, JKPDC, JAKEDA, KPDCL, and various finance departments were also present.
The committee reviewed audit paras 7.4, 8.1, and 8.7 from the Comptroller and Auditor General’s reports (2018–19 and 2020–21) concerning JKPDC and JAKEDA.
Key directives from the meeting included:

Spot inspections under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to be conducted by a joint team of committee members and officials.

A 15-day deadline for departments to submit comprehensive progress reports on all ongoing power projects.

A review of the functioning of hydroelectric projects and performance of PSUs in the energy sector.
Chairman Sagar emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and efficient implementation of energy initiatives. He also directed departments to submit updated audit documentation and status reports to enable informed decision-making and facilitate structural reforms.
The Principal Accountant General shared insights on audit procedures and recommended measures to enhance the efficiency of public sector undertakings in the region.
