Srinagar, September 2, 2025 : Authorities have sounded a red alert across Jammu and Kashmir as the region braces for another spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours.
The Meteorological Department warned that swollen rivers, streams, and seasonal nallahs could trigger flash floods, thunderstorms, and landslides at vulnerable locations.
Districts most at risk include Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, and Reasi, where very heavy downpours are expected. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Ramban, Anantnag, and Kulgam. Rainfall may intensify from late tonight through tomorrow afternoon, officials said.
People have been cautioned to stay away from water bodies, loose slopes, and vulnerable structures amid the risk of cloudbursts, mudslides, and shooting stones.
In view of the advisory, district administrations have activated 24×7 control rooms and helplines to deal with emergencies.
