New Delhi,Nov 08, 2024 : Union Ministry of Law & Justice has increased the sanctioned Bench strength of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh from 17 judges to 25 judges.

“The judge strength of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has been reviewed and in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, it has been decided to increase it from 17 to 25 judges, with 19 permanent judges and six additional judges,” Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Meghwal wrote in a letter to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan.

According to the November 5 letter, 66 per cent of the high court judges’ posts will be filled up from members of the Bar while 33 per cent will be drawn from judicial service.
