KUPWARA, July 30, 2025 : A government school teacher lost his life and 10 passengers were injured after a bus skidded off the road in the Behnipora area of Handwara on Wednesday, officials said.
The deceased, Irshad Ahmad Lone, was walking along the roadside when he was struck by the out-of-control vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The injured passengers were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
“I am deeply grieved by the tragic road accident in Handwara. My thoughts are with the family of Irshad Ahmad Lone. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” he said in a condolence message.
