JAMMU, OCTOBER 04, 2026 : Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and Udhampur districts launched search and combing operations on Sunday following information about the suspected movement of terrorists in forested areas, officials said.
Suspected Terrorists Allegedly Abduct Villager
According to officials, three suspected terrorists allegedly abducted a villager, Anil Sudan, near his residence in Upper Lardia in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri late Saturday night.
The suspects reportedly used Sudan as a guide before releasing him at around 3:15 am. Officials said the trio took him towards the Dua Khad forest.
After receiving information about the incident, police and Army personnel moved into the area and launched a search operation to trace the suspected terrorists.
Officials said no contact had been established with the suspects at the time of the report.
Search Intensified in Mandugala Dhok Forest
Security forces also reportedly cordoned off the Mandugala Dhok forest in Rajouri after local residents reported seeing two individuals wearing black clothing and carrying backpacks and weapons.
The reported movement triggered another search operation as security agencies continued efforts to establish the identity and whereabouts of the suspected individuals.
Operation Underway in Udhampur
A separate search operation was also launched in Chigli Keya village in Udhampur district following information about suspected terrorist movement.
Security forces have been conducting searches in forested and difficult-to-access areas as part of efforts to locate any suspected militants and prevent possible movement through the region.
September Encounter in Udhampur
The latest operations come weeks after a security operation in Udhampur.
On September 17, 2026, two Pakistani terrorists were reported killed in an encounter with security forces in the Majalta area of Udhampur.
According to officials, another terrorist was injured during the encounter but managed to escape.
The latest searches in Rajouri and Udhampur underline the continued security focus on forested areas that can provide routes for suspected militant movement. The identities and whereabouts of the suspects involved in the latest incidents had not been independently established in the information available.
