KULGAM, November 11, 2025 : In a major development under the ongoing anti-terror and anti-narcotics campaign, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam have apprehended a Nepalese national found carrying charas during an extensive vehicle-checking operation, officials said on Tuesday.
SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, said that over the past several days, police have intensified a district-wide crackdown aimed at curbing terrorism and narcotics trade.
“For the past few days, we’ve been conducting a large-scale crackdown against terrorism. Today, as part of that effort, we launched a special vehicle-checking drive — not only on highways, which we do regularly, but also across more than 75 locations in Kulgam’s interiors,” the SSP said.
He added,
“During the operation, we apprehended a Nepalese national carrying charas in his luggage. He thought he could slip through due to odd timings, but our police teams were alert and successfully nabbed him.”
The operation highlights Kulgam Police’s vigilance and coordination in preventing cross-border and local networks from exploiting the region for illegal activities.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify potential links to terror financing networks.
