Srinagar, July 29, 2025 : National Conference president and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said the elimination of the terrorists behind the Pahalgam massacre sends a strong message that terrorism will never succeed.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a public event in Srinagar, Abdullah said,
“I haven’t seen them, nor do I know who they were. Only those who encountered them can identify them. But if they’ve been killed, it’s a good thing. It’s a clear message—terrorism will not triumph.”
His remarks came shortly after Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Parliament that the three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack had been neutralized in a joint operation near Srinagar on Monday.
Shah, while participating in a special discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, said the terrorists were eliminated during Operation Mahadev, conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The slain terrorists were identified as Suleman alias Faizal, Afghani, and Jibran—all top operatives of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Suleman and Afghani were listed as A-category terrorists.
“These were the men responsible for the massacre at Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians—mostly tourists—were gunned down,” Shah said.
The massacre had triggered the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, during which Indian forces carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure across the border.
