JAMMU, November 4, 2025 : In a decisive move to maintain public order, two habitual offenders were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kishtwar districts, police said on Tuesday.

Tajinder Singh alias “Happy”, a resident of Simbal Camp, Jammu, was booked under PSA and lodged in Poonch Jail. Police described him as a hardcore criminal with a long record of violent crimes and repeated legal violations. “His continued involvement in criminal activities posed a serious threat to public peace,” a spokesperson said.

In a separate case, Saleem Javed of Zewar village, Kishtwar, was detained under PSA for his role in large-scale drug peddling. He was lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu. Investigations revealed Javed as a key supplier of narcotics targeting youth in Kishtwar town.

Meanwhile, in a related anti-narcotics drive, police arrested Murad Ali from Miran Sahib, Jammu, and recovered 29.60 grams of heroin from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is underway.
