Jammu, November 2, 2025 : In a major breakthrough, police arrested two absconders wanted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act – UAPA after a five-year-long manhunt in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.
The accused, Owais Farooq and Ahsan Fayaz Leilu, both residents of Old Town, Baramulla, were apprehended by a team from R.S. Pura Police Station, Jammu, following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance, a police spokesperson confirmed.
An FIR registered in 2020 under various sections of the IPC and UAPA had named the duo, who had since remained untraceable. Their prolonged evasion prompted a Jammu court to issue warrants under Section 299 CrPC against them.
The accused have been lodged in District Jail Amphalla, Jammu, under judicial custody as per court orders.
