NEW DELHI, November 26, 2025 : Marking Constitution Day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reiterated his commitment to defending the Indian Constitution, calling it the “protective shield of the poor” and vowing to be the first to stand up against any attempt to weaken or undermine it.
Addressing citizens through a public message, Gandhi urged people to collectively pledge that India’s constitutional values—justice, equality, and democratic freedoms—will not be allowed to come under attack from any quarter.
“The Constitution is the protective shield of the poor and the weak. We must pledge that we will not allow any attack on it. If there is an assault, I will be the first to stand up,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Kharge said these values form the backbone of India’s democracy and must be protected “for the unity, integrity, love, brotherhood, and harmony of the country”.
