JAMMU, November 26, 2025 : In a major push to enhance asset monetisation and increase non-fare revenue, the Indian Railways has successfully conducted a mega e-auction for allotting multi-purpose stalls at key stations under the Jammu railway division. The move aims to improve passenger amenities while simultaneously supporting local economic activity.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the auction witnessed strong participation, resulting in stall allotments at several important stations, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Pathankot Cantt, Sopore, and Anantnag.

High-Value Allotments at Katra Railway Station

  • Platforms 2 & 3, SMVD Katra

    • First-year rent: approx. ₹25,00,000

    • Five-year total: approx. ₹1,47,50,000

  • Platform 1, SMVD Katra

    • First-year rent: ₹6,55,888

    • Five-year total: approx. ₹38,69,739

Other Major Allotments

  • Pathankot Cantt (Platform 1)

    • First-year rent: approx. ₹11,00,000

    • Five-year total: ₹64,95,310

  • Sopore Railway Station (Platform 1)

    • First-year rent: ₹2,67,786

    • Five-year total: ₹15,79,937

  • Anantnag Railway Station (Platform 1)

    • First-year rent: ₹2,22,786

    • Five-year total: ₹13,14,437

Revenue to Railways Crosses ₹2.8 Crore

According to Singhal, the stalls collectively are expected to generate ₹2,80,09,243 for the Railways over the next five years. He said this was the highest revenue generated from any e-auction conducted so far in the division.

Enhancing Passenger Convenience & Local Economy

Beyond revenue, the initiative is set to significantly enhance traveller convenience by offering easy access to essentials such as:

  • Water bottles & packaged food

  • Toiletries (soap, oil, etc.)

  • Magazines & reading material

  • Children’s toys and other basic travel needs

The stalls will not only improve passenger comfort but also give a boost to local businesses, creating a more vibrant and service-rich station environment.
