New Delhi, June 15, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has consistently focused on enhancing the quality of life of ordinary citizens over the past 12 years through improved infrastructure, better public services, expanded opportunities, affordable healthcare, and quality education.
Describing his administration as a “government for the middle class,” the Prime Minister emphasized that serving the aspirations of India’s middle class remains both a responsibility and a privilege, acknowledging their immense contribution to the nation’s development.
In a post shared on X, Modi stated that governance over the last decade has increasingly centered on making everyday life easier for citizens through improved access to opportunities, cleaner cities, efficient services, and reduced daily challenges.
“Our efforts are about easier access to opportunities, better infrastructure, improved public services, affordable healthcare, quality education, cleaner cities and reduced burdens in everyday life,” the Prime Minister said.
The remarks came as MyGov India, the Centre’s flagship citizen engagement platform, highlighted the significant changes witnessed by India’s middle class during the last 12 years under the Modi government’s leadership.
According to MyGov India, rising living standards have been supported by large-scale investments in infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, tax relief initiatives, and expanded access to public services. The platform noted that millions of Indian families now experience greater convenience and improved opportunities in their daily lives.
Digital Revolution Expands Opportunities
One of the most significant achievements highlighted by MyGov India is the rapid expansion of digital connectivity across both urban and rural India. The platform stated that internet penetration has reached unprecedented levels, enabling wider access to education, employment, digital payments, and entertainment.
With more than 103 crore internet connections and substantially lower data costs, digital services have become more accessible and affordable for citizens across the country, helping bridge the urban-rural divide.
Railways Witness Major Modernization
The government’s push for modern railway infrastructure has also transformed travel experiences for millions of passengers. MyGov India noted that the expansion of Vande Bharat Express services has significantly reduced travel times on key routes while improving passenger comfort.
Currently, 164 Vande Bharat trains are operational across India, having already served more than 9 crore passengers. The introduction of sleeper variants is expected to further enhance long-distance travel convenience and connectivity.
Metro Networks Improve Urban Mobility
Rapid metro rail expansion in major cities has emerged as another key driver of urban transformation. According to the platform, expanding metro networks are helping reduce traffic congestion, improving commuting efficiency, and providing reliable transportation for students and working professionals.
As cities continue to grow, metro systems are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring sustainable and efficient urban mobility.
Stronger Road Infrastructure Boosts Connectivity
MyGov India also highlighted improvements in India’s road network and highway infrastructure. Enhanced highways, expressways, and streamlined toll collection systems have significantly reduced travel delays while improving logistics efficiency.
The developments have made intercity travel smoother and more predictable for commuters, businesses, and transport operators, contributing to economic growth and regional connectivity.
Focus on Middle-Class Aspirations
The government maintains that its policies are aimed at empowering India’s middle class through better services, lower costs, enhanced mobility, and improved access to opportunities. Officials argue that these efforts have contributed to higher living standards and greater economic participation across the country.
As the NDA government completes 12 years in office, it continues to present infrastructure development, digital expansion, and citizen-focused governance as key pillars of its development agenda.
