SRINAGAR, November 21, 2025 : In a sweeping security reinforcement exercise, Srinagar Police has expanded its inspection drive beyond hospitals to include chemical and fertiliser shops as well as car dealerships across the city. The intensified operations, carried out over the last two days, are aimed at ensuring regulatory compliance and preventing misuse of facilities that could aid unlawful activities, an official spokesperson said on Friday.
The inspections come in the backdrop of the recent busting of a “white collar terror” module, involving arrests across Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana—including three doctors. Investigations had revealed worrying details, such as the unregulated sale of ammonium nitrate, misuse of second-hand vehicles, and even weapons hidden inside hospital lockers, prompting a heightened vigilance campaign.
Focused Hospital Inspections
Special teams constituted under SSP Srinagar, G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, inspected locker rooms, storage racks, and sensitive points across various hospitals and public health centres. The checks followed the arrest of a doctor linked to the terror module and the recovery of an AK rifle concealed in his locker at Government Medical College, Anantnag.
Police teams, accompanied by health officials, instructed hospital staff to use lockers strictly for official purposes, maintain proper inventory records, and uphold safety protocols. Officials emphasised that such inspections will now be a part of routine vigilance to ensure a secure healthcare environment.
Checks at Chemical & Fertiliser Shops
On Friday, the operation expanded to the commercial sector, with searches conducted in multiple chemical and fertiliser shops across Srinagar. Police verified:

Shopkeepers were advised to maintain transparency, enhance security measures, and promptly report any suspicious transactions.

Further tightening its preventive framework, police teams visited several car showrooms to ensure vehicles are not misused for illegal activities. The focus of inspection included:
