DODA, April 8, 2026 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh, chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Kishtwar, conducting a comprehensive review of ongoing development projects and welfare initiatives in the district.
The meeting focused on assessing progress across sectors and ensuring effective implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.
Focus on Coordination & Timely Delivery
Dr. Singh emphasized the need for stronger inter-departmental coordination, strict monitoring mechanisms, and adherence to timelines to ensure efficient execution of projects. He directed officials to maintain quality standards, particularly under flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Key Development Priorities Discussed
The Union Minister reviewed several critical areas, including:
- Development of airstrip facilities to enhance regional connectivity and boost tourism
- Progress of road infrastructure projects
- Construction of cremation sheds
- Rehabilitation of Kandani residents affected by power projects
- Promotion of local produce like saffron and kala zeera through better branding and market access
Youth Engagement & Public Welfare
Highlighting the importance of youth participation, Dr. Singh stressed initiatives like Sansad Khel Mahotsav to channelize young energy in a positive direction.
He also instructed the Power Development Department to ensure transparent and consumer-friendly implementation of smart metering systems.
Further, he called for increased public awareness of welfare schemes and prompt grievance redressal to achieve inclusive and equitable development.
Participation & Administrative Review
The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar, nominated DISHA members, and senior district officials.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, presented a detailed overview of the district’s development profile, highlighting progress under centrally sponsored and UT schemes across sectors such as health, education, rural development, agriculture, and social welfare.

Dr. Singh issued clear directions to concerned departments for timely resolution of issues raised during the meeting and stressed accountability at all levels to ensure effective governance and public service delivery.
