SRINAGAR, April 14, 2026 : The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervour across Kashmir on Tuesday, with devotees gathering in large numbers at gurdwaras to offer prayers.
The main celebrations were held at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi, where a large congregation of Sikh devotees participated in prayers, bhajan-kirtans, and religious ceremonies. Senior officials from civil and police administration also visited the shrine to pay their respects.
Festivities were observed across various districts of the Valley, with devotees taking part in spiritual activities and community service. Langars (community kitchens) were organized by Sikh groups and NGOs, while medical camps were also set up to serve the public.
Baisakhi holds immense significance as it marks the beginning of the harvest season and commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
The festive spirit extended beyond religious spaces, as people visited popular tourist spots like Pahalgam and Doodhpathri, enjoying the occasion with family and friends. Members of different communities also joined the celebrations, reflecting the region’s spirit of unity and harmony.
The day witnessed vibrant scenes across Mughal gardens, parks, and public spaces, adding to the festive atmosphere in the Valley.
