Srinagar, April 17, 2026 : Nearly a year after the devastating terror attack at Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, the scenic destination is witnessing a strong revival, emerging resiliently from the shadow of terror.
The April 22, 2025 attack at Baisaran meadow, carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, had triggered a sharp decline in tourism, forcing authorities to temporarily shut down several tourist spots across Jammu and Kashmir. However, following enhanced security measures and phased reopening, the Valley is once again bustling with visitors.
Popularly known as “Mini Switzerland,” Pahalgam is now seeing a steady influx of tourists, many of whom have expressed confidence in the improved security arrangements.
Visitors from across the country, including states like Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Haryana, and Rajasthan, have praised the visible presence of security forces and smooth travel experience. Many said the fear that once lingered after the attack has significantly subsided.
Tourists also highlighted their visits to nearby destinations such as Gulmarg and Sonmarg, noting that the overall atmosphere across Kashmir feels safe and welcoming.
The revival has been supported by key developments, including the reopening of tourist sites, improved infrastructure, successful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, and the launch of the Vande Bharat train service connecting Katra to Srinagar.
With strengthened security and growing турист confidence, Kashmir’s tourism sector appears to be regaining momentum, symbolizing resilience and hope in the face of adversity.
